U.S. markets enjoyed some gains yesterday as the latest round of trade talks in Beijing seemed to produce some headway.

The DJIA increased by 0.4% to end at 25,717.46 points while the S&P 500 gained the same figure of 0.4% to finish at 2,815.44 and the Nasdaq rose by 0.3% at 7,669.17 points.

GDP growth in the fourth quarter was lowered to 2.2% from an estimated 2.6% annualized rate as consumer spending became weaker and rather quiet business investment.

Echoing the Fed’s recent meeting, much of this is due also to weakening EU and Chinese economies whom are subsequently halting any progress in growth.
