U.S. markets closed higher amid positive atmosphere surrounding the ongoing trade talks with Beijing.

The DJIA rose by 0.2% as it reached past 26,000 points at one point during the exchange.

Meanwhile the S&P 500 was 2% off its all-time high of 2,930.75 as it rose by 0.6% and the Nasdaq increased by the same margin of 0.6%.

As high-level discussions resumed in Washington yesterday, China’s Vice Premier Liu He prepared to meet with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

The parties hope to set the stage for a summit between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, where a final trade agreement could be signed as early as this month, though the timing of a deal remains uncertain.
