Brexit news and Aussie elections drag regional indices down

Asian markets closed the session in mixed fashion as news of a Brexit deadline has been extended to October 31.
Mainland Chinese indices, the Shanghai composite fell by 1.6% while the Shenzhen composite also shed 2.1% and the Shenzhen component retreated by 2.6%.
Over in Hong Kong the Hang Seng was off the pace as it closed lower by 0.8% although shares of Tencent rose beyond the $400 mark.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 fell by 0.1% and the South Korean Kospi traded mostly flat.
In down under, the ASX 200 gave up 0.4% as a general election has been called by PM Scott Morrison by May 18.
