Asian markets trade lower as investors look to US-China trade talks

Asian indices traded lower today as investors still keep cautious regarding the trade talks between Washington and Beijing.

In mainland China the Shanghai composite dropped by 0.4% while the Shenzhen composite crept lower by 0.5% and by the same margin so did the Shenzhen component.

Over in Hong Kong the Hang Seng gave up 0.9% as China Construction Bank shares shed 1%.

Tokyo listed Nikkei 225 lost 0.8% as SoftBank Group shares fell by 2.1% while the smaller index the Topix also fell off the pace by 0.9%.

South Korea’s Kospi fell by 1.4% as Samsung’s new launched foldable phones have reportedly suffered performance issues, hence a resulting drop of over 3% in shares.

Finally, in Australia the ASX 200 ended slightly higher as the latest job report released earlier today showed 27,000 new positions were added in comparison to the 12,000 estimated by analysts.
