Asian markets trade higher following "positive" trade deal between US and China

Asian indices traded higher during today’s session as optimism surrounds the ongoing talks between the US and China.

Last Friday President Trump claimed a “very substantial phase one deal” which is focused on intellectual property and the purchase of agricultural products.

The US Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, announced that the planned tariffs on $250 billion dollars of Chinese goods will not go ahead.

The Shanghai Composite index jumped by 1.2% while the Hong Kong index, the Hang Seng rose by 0.8%.

The Japanese markets were closed due to public holiday, hence the Kospi in Seoul climbed by 1.1% and the Aussie ASX 200 gained 0.5%.
