Asian markets mostly rise as trade tensions ease

Asian markets traded mostly higher earlier today as trade tensions between Beijing and Washington seem to be easing.

Mainland China’s indices remained mostly flat throughout the session, while in Hong Kong the Hang Seng index as AIA group and PetroChina shed 1.4% and 1.3% respectively.

In Tokyo the Nikkei 225 climbed by 0.8% as shares of Honda and Sony rose by 1.1% and 0.8% respectively, however shares of Rakuten fell by 2.8%.

Seoul’s Kospi was closed for holiday, the Aussie ASX 200 gained 0.3% as Virgin Australia shares advanced by 3.2%, other indices such as TAIEX in Taiwan gained 0.3% while the STI in Singapore gave up the same margin of 0.3%.
