Asian markets ended today’s session lower although Wall street saw record highs for the Nasdaq and the S&P 500.

Japan’s Nikkei slipped by 0.4|% as Nissan shares tumbled by 4%, meanwhile Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gave up 0.6% and in mainland China the Shanghai Composite retreated by 0.2%.

South Korea’s Kospi fell 1%, as Samsung fell by 1% and benchmark indexes in Taiwan and Singapore were trading flat to lower.

Bucking the weaker trend, Australia’s ASX 200 closed up almost 1%, touching a nearly 10-year high in intraday trading, both Westpac Banking and National Australia Bank edged higher by 1.1% and 1.5% respectively.
