Regional markets end session mixed as Huawei's troubles linger
Asian indices have been mostly mixed in the region as investors grapple with the current situation surrounding Huawei and Google, the latter announcing it will not supply the Chinese tech giant with further Android software.
Mainland China however did see some gains as the Shanghai Composite rose by 1% while the Shenzhen Composite went further by 1.3%, leaving the Hang Seng mostly flat throughout the exchange.
Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 fell by 0.4% although share of Nikon and SoftBank gained 3.6% and 3.5% respectively.
In Seoul the Kospi climbed by 0.7% as Samsung picked up on Huawei’s troubles by gaining 2.7%, while the TAIEX in Taipei advanced by 0.6% and Singapore’s STI added 0.8%.
Rounding off the session, the Australian ASX 200 fell by 0.3% as BHP and Beach Energy gave up 0.7% and 2.4% respectively.
