Asian markets trade lower as Trump turns up heat on Huawei
Asian markets have had a mostly negative session as investors digest the latest news regarding Huawei as Trump blacklisted the tech giant as of yesterday.
In mainland China the Shanghai Composite rose by 0.1% while the Shenzhen Composite remained flat throughout the exchange and so did the Hang Seng in Hong Kong as shares of Tencent, Sunny Optical and AAC all took on losses.
Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 dropped by 0.6% as Toyota and Honda fell by 1% and 0.6% respectively.
Over in Seoul the Kospi also shed 0.5% as Kia and Hyundai also slid by 0.3% and 0.9% respectively while in Taiwan the TAIEX fell behind by 0.1%.
Rounding the session in the region, the Aussie ASX 200 remained flat, although scored some gains in earlier trading, with Westpac Banking tumbling by 3.8%.
