President Donald Trump will not be meeting his counterpart, Xi Jinping as the March 2 deadline on the current trade talks looms.

When questioned regarding the issue, officials stated it is “highly unlikely” it will take place, and Trump himself answering “Not yet...” when asked s to whether he will meet Xi, when further pressed to answer he just shook is head and replied “No.”

That being said he did point to meet Xi, “shortly thereafter…” the trade deadline.

Interestingly however, Trump will be meeting North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un between February 27-28.

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer has said he and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin would make a recommendation to Trump on whether to agree to a summit after the two return from their trip to China next week.

A delegation of U.S. deputies will conduct talks beginning Monday, with Lighthizer and Mnuchin joining later in the week, according to an administration official and a person briefed on the plan.
