Malaysia set to take the next step s a high-earning nation

According to the World Bank’s vice-president for East Asia and Pacific, Victoria Kwakwa, Malaysia is on course to becoming a high-income, developed nation.

Ms. Kwakwa stated that, “We welcome the government’s efforts, as part of this process, to strengthen institutions, develop human capital and protect the vulnerable in the society. The World Bank Group stands ready to support Malaysia during this important transition process.”

She recently concluded a four-day visit to the country in which she met with PM Mahatir Mohamad, Finance Minister LimGUan Eng and Bank Negara Malaysia’s governor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus, noting that the country was ready to take the next step as the economy showed strong foundations and also discussed the importance of digital economy and skills development competitiveness in the whole region.
