Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai has begun his testimony before the House Judiciary Committee as lawmakers fire questions on topics such as political bias on its platforms, privacy practices and the plan for a censored app in China.

Senators had originally requested the presence of Alphabet CEO Larry Page, instead Pichai has been showed the hot seat and sees an end to a rather torrid year for tech companies as lawmakers have been watching Silicon Valley’s stance on democracy, privacy and use of information.

With that being said, it will be interesting to see how the softly-spoken CEO can handle the grilling by the senators and defend Google as it comes under heavy fire.
