Asian markets mixed following UK government defeat

Asian markets slumped following the U.K. government’s defeat in parliament, casting doubt over the future of the country’s economy.

Mainland Chinese indices were mostly mixed as the Shanghai composite slipped by 0.1% and the Shenzhen composite was mainly flat while the ChiNext index, mainly filled with start-ups, rose by 0.3%.

Meanwhile in Hong Kong the Hang Seng shed around 0.2% and the China Enterprise Index too down by 0.4%.

On a brighter note South Korea’s Kospi was higher by 0.2%.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 however did not share the same fate as it dropped by 0.7% as automaker Honda retreated by 1.7%.

In down under the ASX 200 did climb by 0.21% as the financial sub index also surged by 0.6%.
