Asian indices traded mixed across the board as investors look out for any positive signs of trade talks between Washington and Beijing, bar Japan’s Nikkei 225 as it is closed for holiday.

Mainland Chinese markets came back after a long break due to the Lunar New Year festivities, as the Shanghai composite advanced by 0.2% with the Shenzhen Composite and Shenzhen component rising by 0.2% and 0.916% respectively.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng remained mostly flat while Tencent’s shares climbed by 0.17%.

The South Korean Kospi however retreated by 0.3% as Samsung dropped by 0.89%.

The Aussie ASX 20 gave up earlier gains to go behind by 0.46% as the financial subindex shed 1.56% with all major banks posting losses.
